El joven cantante Alexander Rybak cantó la canción "Fairytale", quedando en primera posición y batiendo el récord de puntos de la historia del festival, establecido por Lordi en 2006. Pero ahí no queda la cosa, la canción ha sido lanzada en muchos países europeos, llegando a liderar las listas de Noruega, Suecia y Grecia, además del #2 alcanzado en Dinamarca, Holanda, Finlandia o Irlanda, y entrando directo al #10 en Reino Unido, entre otros.
After having told for some days about the most successful songs of the last Eurovision Song Contest edition, let's talk about the winner, Norway. Mención especial quiero hacer a otras canciones del festival, que en mi opinión, bien podían haber ganado también, sin desmerecer ni cuestionar al ganador. En segunda posición, muy merecida, quedó Islandia, con unos resultados bastante mediocres en anteriores ediciones, pero posición merecida la de este año con la cantante Yohanna y la canción Is It True?, con 218 votos, una immensidad de votos por debajo del ganador, que casi dobla los votos.

Y el tercer puesto se lo llevó un país con pocas participaciones hasta la fecha, pero con bastante éxito, Azerbaijan. Su cantante es bastante conocido en algunos países europeos, Arash, y ha quedado tercero con Always y 207 votos.
