Ghost es ya un clásico del cine romántico. Un film que consiguió mezclar todos los elementos que disponía para crear una película de la que mucha gente se acordaría. A parte de contar con un reparto popular en los noventa: Demi Moore y Patrick Swayze en una película sobre la venganza, lo sobrenatural, pero sobre todo una película romántica. En el film destaca una canción usada en dos momento claves, una canción que le da fuerza a la escena: Unchained Melody. Una bonita balada en el film interpretada por Righteous Brothers pero versionada más de 500 veces.

The film also have famous actors in the 90s: Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze in a story about revenge, supernatural things, but among all a romantic movie. In the film highlights a song used in two important scenes, a song that gives strength to the film: Unchained Melody. A beautiful ballad sung by Righteous Brothers in Ghost but with more than 500 versions of it.

BSO: Magnolia (Wise Up / Save - Aimee Mann)

En 1999 se estrenaba una película que es tan complicada como buena. Una historia llena de personajes y subtramas que conseguía mezclar con maestría el realismo y el dramatismo de la vida en ciertos momentos como el surrealismo de cierta escena. El film de P. T. Anderson, protagonizado por Tom Cruise, Julianne Moore...; posee una sutil, elegante y delicada banda sonora, compuesta por canciones de Aimee Mann, una cantautora estadounidense que en los 80 lideró el grupo Til Tuesday. Los temas: Save y Wise Up. Personalmente creo que el último es el mejor de la banda sonora, el piano y la voz de la cantante en su máximo exponente.

In 1999 a film was released. A film a bit complicate but a great film at least. A story full of characters and another stories that mixed a dramatic realism with moments of surrealism. The film directed by P.T. Anderson and starring by Tom Cruise, Julianne Moore...has a a subtle, elegant and delicate soundtrack composed of songs by Aimee Mann, an American singer that in the'80s led the group Til Tuesday. The Songs: Wise Up and Save personally think the first one is the best of the soundtrack, piano and voice of the singer in its greatest exponent.

BSO: In Search of a Midnight Kiss (The Scorpions - Wind of Change)

In Search of a Midnight Kiss, en España conocida como En Busca de un Beso a Medianoche, es una de esas películas americanas independientas, hechas con poco presupuesto, con un reparto totalmente desconocido y normalmente joven, y un director que está empezando. Dichas películas suelen explicar historias sencillas, sinceras, cercanas y precisamente allí reside su magia. Allí y en una cuidada banda sonora. En esta banda sonora encontramos esta canción, particularmente la considero una de las mejores baladas que he escuchado. Los autores de la power ballad es el grupo de Hard Rock y Heavy Metal, The Scorpions.

In Search of a Midnight is one of these independent American films, made with little budget, with a totally unknown and usually young actors, and a director who is starting. These films tend to explain simple stories, heartfelt, and just nearby there lies its magic. There also have a nice soundtrack. In the beggining of the ending credits we find this song, particularly as one of the best ballads I have heard. The authors of the power ballad is the group of Heavy Metal and Hard Rock, The Scorpions.

BSO: The Phantom of the Opera

En 2004, el temible director Joel Schumacher estrenó la adaptación cinematrogràfica del musical el Fantasma de la Ópera. El film no fue demasiado bien recibido. Las comparaciones con el musical son odiosas, no nos vamos a engañar, unos tipos que cantan en directo y se dedican a eso siempre serán mejor que los cuatro actores de turno que les hacen clases, o que saben cantar un poco y que se lanzan a un proyecto de estas caracterísiticas. Personalmente encuentro en el Fantasma de la Ópera una obra fascinante, oscura y romántico en el sentido más antiguo de la palabra. Canciones opera-rock que consiguen hacer avanzar una trama sencilla pero efectiva que mezcla amor, celos, locura... (el doblaje en español es penoso...)

In 2004, the filmdirector Joel Schumacher released the adaptation in the big screen of the Phantom's of the Opera musical. The film was not too well received. Is not fair comparing the movie with me musical, musical artist (yes are better) are actors/singers who sing live and are involved in this, will always be better than the four actors who take sing classes or who can sing a little and try to do a project of these characteristics. Personally I find the Phantom of the Opera a fascinating work, dark and romantic in the old sense of the word. BSO: Appaloosa (Scare Easy - Mudcrutch)

Appaloosa fue uno de los westerns estrenados el pasado año. Aunque no fue un gran éxito en taquilla, ni tampoco una obra maestra del género; sí que es un intento bastante digno en esta tendencia de renovar el western. Un film dirigido por Ed Harris donde dos amigos interpretados por Ed Harris y Viggo Mortensen que llegan a Appaloosa para imponer su ley. Pronto surgiran los primeros problemas con una misteriosa mujer (Zwellenger) y un poderoso ranchero (Jeremy Irons). En los créditos finales aparece esta canción rock con ritmos folk y country. En el film y después de Scare Easy también aparece otra canción You'll Never Leave My Heart que supone el debut delante el micro de Ed Harris.

Appaloosa was one of the westerns relased last year. Although it wasn't a great success in the box office, neither a western masterpiece; it was a pretty decent attempt in this trend of renew western. A film directed by Ed Harris about two friends played by Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen arrive to Appaloosa to impose their law. Soon begin the problems with the new arrival of a mysterious woman (Zwellenger) and a powerful rancher (Jeremy Irons). The song Scare Easy, a rock song with folk and country rhythms appears in the final credits. In the film and after Scare Easy is also another song You'll Never Leave My Heart which is the singing debut of Ed Harris.

Hace ya unos meses que no conocíamos nada de My Chemical Romance, una de las bandas más conocidas en el panorama rock americano y mundial. Después de su última canción Teenagers, nos traen el tema "Desolation Row", una nueva versión de una canción homónima de Bob Dylan, que será incluída en la Banda Sonora de la película WatchMen. La canción se lanzó como single en enero y está disponible en iTunes.

It's a long time without new information about My Chemical Romance, one of the most known rock bands in America and the World. After their last song, Teenagers, they release the song "Desolation Row", a new cover version of the song, with the same title, by Bob Dylan, which will be included in the soundtrack of WatchMen. The song was released as a single on January and it's available in iTunes.

Mi querido Frankie (Dear Frankie) es una de esas películas desconocido por la mayoría de público. Una película que desprende unos sentimientos muy nobles: amor, sacrificio, el miedo a volver a empezar... El film pertenece a esas películas que en la mayoría de ocasiones no llegan a estrenarse en España o pasan olvidadas sin pena ni gloria. Un film que cuenta con las interpretaciones de Emily Mortimer, una actriz fija en el cine independiente, y el ahora conocido Gerard Butler en una interpretación sorprendente, alejada de su personaje de acción. El film tiene una banda sonora a base de acústicos y melodías a piano. Personalmente destaco dos canciones Delicate de Damien Rice y Everyone will have their day, una bonita canción de Clarkesville

Dear Frankie is one of those movies unknown to most audiences. A film that shows some very noble sentiments: love, sacrifice, fear of starting over ... The film belongs to these films that in most cases fail in releases. A film which has theperformances of Emily Mortimer, an actress that appear mostly in independent film, and now known Gerard Butler in a striking performance, much different of his action character. The film has a soundtrack based on acoustic and piano melodies. Personally, I emphasize two songs: Delicate sung by Damien Rice and Everyone will have their day, a beautiful song sung by Clarkesville.

BSO: The Secret Lifes of Bees ( Heaven's my home - Sam & Ruby )

Mirando la película La Vida Secreta de las Abejas (The Secret Life of Bees), un drama bastante facilón, pronto resalta la banda sonora. Una banda sonora que mezcla melodias de Mark Isham con canciones de los principios de la música negra con canciones de grupos emblemáticos pero ahora ya casi olvidados como The Suprems o Four Tops.. Pero no os voy a hablar de estos hoy. Entre canciones de los años 60 y 70 se escondia un tema destacable de un grupo indie que mezcla pop y folk... Sam & Ruby, un dueto enriquecido por unas voces dulces masculinas y femeninas con la canción Heaven's my home.

Watching the movie The Secret Life of Bees, a drama a bit predictable soon highlights the soundtrack. A soundtrack that mixes melodies by Mark Isham with songs of the early black music from groups flagship but now almost forgotten as The Four Tops or The Suprems .. But I am not going to talk about those today. Between songs of the'60s and'70s was hiding one outstanding song of a group that mix folk and pop ... The duo Sam & Ruby, a duet by a male and female vocals with the sweet song Heaven's my home.

En el 2006 se estrenó Dreamgirls un musical sobre el ascenso a la fama, las disputas familiares etc del trio de hermanas The Dreamettes interpretadas por Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson y Anika Noni Rose. Un musical que sigue los cánones, ofreciéndonos un repertorio de un primitivo R&B/Soul/Música Negra. Donde brilla con luz propia Jennifer Hudson, finalista del programa American Idol. Consiguí un Globo de Oro, un Bafta y un Oscar a mejor actriz de reparto. Un film para amantes del músical o para curiosos, para gente interesada en conocer los origenes de muchos de los estilos que triunfan hoy en día

BSO: In Bruges (On Raglan Road - The Dubliners)

Para mí el film In Bruges (Escondido en Brujas) fue una agradable sorpresa en todos los sentidos. Una historia sobre dos asesinos a sueldos con corazón(Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson) y un cabrón como jefe (Ralph Fiennes). Mucho humor negro, una última media hora de infarto, en definitiva un producto de calidad. En el film descubrí esta canción On Raglan Road, una canción del grupo Irlandés The Dubliners que pusieron música a un poema del poeta Patrick Kavanagh. Rápidamente se convirtió en un "himno" y un referente del folklore irlandés. En el film la canción consigue dotar a "la escena" de un fuerte dramatismo, convirtiendose ésta en una de las secuencias del año.

For me the film In Bruges was a pleasant surprise. A story about two murderers wages with heart (Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson) and a grumpy boss (Ralph Fiennes). A lot of black humor, a great last half hour with action and persecutions. To sum up, a great film. In the film I discovered this song On Raglan Road, a song from the Irish group The Dubliners who put music to a poem of Patrick Kavanagh. Quickly became like a "hymn" and a landmark of Irish folklore. In the film the song manages to give to "the scene" a strong drama, making it one of the sequences of the year.
